Working together with inspiring people, André is thrilled by creating new products, fruitful cooperations and business models throughout his whole professional life. Be it in the media industry, where he has held several senior management positions, or currently in the growing education market. Always in combination with passion, fun, creativity and authenticity.
Born in Guetersloh, he started as apprentice at Bertelsmann in 1992 and moved, after finishing, to Hamburg to the German publishing house Gruner + Jahr. In Hamburg he also studied business administration at the University. After several positions at Gruner + Jahr he took the chance to build up the international department, being in charge for internationalizing the companies’ German media brands GEO, Gala and the international Parting network to countries like Brazil, India, Russia, China and Middle East.
In 2012 he accepted the offer of Hubert Burda Media as Director Brand Licensing, moved to Munich and was responsible for centralizing the licensing and new business activities in Munich. He expanded this business and created partnerships with companies from various branches. In January 2021 he shifted his position, purpose-driven, as Vice-President of University of Applied Management to expand the current growth path and to also empower young students to create a good foundation for their own professional life.
United Fashion Service (UFS) has become a strategic partner for University of Applied Management while working closely together by creating a university fashion collection: As an open framework UFS was given the challenge to take the universities’ values into account, to emotionalize the brand itself and to consider the requirements of Generation Z. Together with young bachelor students from fashion management André Berger and Gesine Glück created concept, artwork and design and realised the production itself. The result was an extraordinary and awesome capsule collection addressing perfectly the needs of young students - and even older ones. More to come!
